Self-evaluation is crucial for spiritual growth and leadership development. The questions below show how you are doing. A few ground rules:
- Ask yourself these questions about once every 4-6 months. Just like you shouldn’t weigh yourself every day don’t ask these questions every day or even every week.
- Focus on one area at a time. Trying to repair all areas at once will lead to burnout.
- Do this prayerfully. We’re good at thinking we’re awesome or that we’re dirt. It is difficult to view ourselves as God does. Make sure you consult with Him.
The questions:
1. Am I growing in my desire for God?
2. Am I more loving of others?
3. Am I more sensitive to and aware of God than before? Whether in worship or personal time with God?
4. Am I applying more of God’s Word in my life?
5. Am I more concerned with the physical and spiritual needs of others?
6. Am I more concerned with the church and its positive influence on others?
7. Is Bible reading and prayer more important to me?
8. Am I more aware of my need for obedience to Jesus?
9. Am I more willing to forgive others?
10. Am I thinking more and more of heaven and of being with the Lord Jesus?
11. Am I spending time with a group or one other person for the purpose of spiritual growth?
12. Is it more evident that my family is Christ-centered?
13. Am I growing in my desire and ability to serve others?
14. Am I more concerned with my positive influence on others?
Are there any self-accountability questions you have used in the past?
